Paul Conway created the topic: So let me ask you 'ALL' this...?
If this project (Lunar Mission One) is to be handed over to become a part of some other (possibly different?) mission and perhaps run by others wouldn't you be curious to know...
1) Will ALL our pledges be met? will they still stand with DNA samples being sent to the MOON? and the DATA sent?
2) Over 7,000 members stumped up nearly $1 Million Dollars (approx. £700,000) that's quiet a sum for a KICKSTARTER campaign, so aren't you curious as where this sum went? it's only been 18 months...it can't ALL be gone already? surely?
Ok, there was the BIG meeting in London which was charged for (but may well have been subsidised using part of this funding? it was a grand setting for sure)
Payment was required for 'BLAM' the designer of the LM1 merchandise (some patches, t shirts were made and paid for but surely these few made a profit, it would be a surprise at the prices asked if a loss was made on them?)
This very Homepage was designed / Set Up and paid for (but i do wonder if it was really worth it? as there seems to be more happening over on the Official FaceBook LM1 page)
Finally, i would guess much of this sum was spent on personnel?
I suppose (as NOT too much seems to be happening right now) i'm just curious as to if this was? and is? being spent wisely? i'm sure much of it is but there was never any real 'BIG SELL' or paid for Advertising that i've seen to try and get more folks onboard? maybe that's too come later? but it i'd love to know the details? wouldn't you?
The Non-Profit part of this mission was appealing & like most of you folks deep down it didn't really matter too much where these funds went? just so long as the mission was given a fighting chance of being a success and of achieving BLAST OFF...right now are we in a better or worse position?
The costings for this mission (so far) after approx. 18 months would be interesting.
Oh and i never did get that answer as to how many extra members there are now?
Is this because it would be disappointing? have we even made it to 10,000 members yet? even this (to me) would be disappointing as i'd have hoped to have doubled or tripled our original numbers by now? is there anyone else out there in the least bit interested?
i'm guessing this mission is far from being funded so how & who is going to help us do so?
I'm normally a fairly chilled guy but this project has still got me excited and re-newed by interest in Space Missions.
Perhaps i'll find a cave somewhere and hibernate for a few years...and when I come back i'll find it's all OK and we'll be progressing well.
BTW: Did LM1 get anyone submitting offers for the mission when requested in the New Year?
Ok, i'll admit in a bit of bad mood right now, nearly 2am and my back's playing up again

Hi Paul, you've raised some reasonable questions that deserve a response, despite your mood which I hope has improved!
I read the LM1 Meet the Team page once again and see there are over sixty five prominent people in well known organizations under the 'mission' and 'science' teams' that are "Supporting the public engagement". With that much support you'll receive a response in no time... Perhaps... There's still no response from my reply to an invitation to submit suggestions over three months ago - "...we need the help of the whole community: it's time for an accelerated crowdsourcing of ideas...":
lunarmissionone.com/forum/suggestions/17...ges-and-the-lm1-labs
Ummm...
Facebook and Twitter are largely used as one way communication vehicles by LM1 rather than places for meaningful conversations.
I do hope LM1 reply to your post here on the forum rather than suggest you sign up to the UK LM1 Chapter. Transparency is the better policy for a mission that is for everyone.
The planning stage was said to be only three years. We're already approaching half that distance and the community that gave their energy and financial support are largely being ignored. Enthusiasm, no matter how passionate, often wains without nourishment.
Here's a link on the forum to a new artwork I completed recently:

No matter the action or inaction of others, the wonders that inspire us remain...
Kind Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike, i didn't need the link I saw your posting and headed for it immediately (new posts here not by a certain Paul Conway are unusual thesedays )
Honestly, i never for one moment thought i would have posted so many posts here.
When over at the Kickstarter page after we discovered that we had reached our target and that a new website would be launched in due course, i had hoped and expected that there would be hundreds of new postings here from both new and old members & on all kinds of subjects, sadly this has never really happened over the long term
I know people are busy and i figured i'd post perhaps once or twice a month but it seemed a shame to let these forums die and go to waste and i can't deny that I have focused recently on those photographs recently taken as they are just so strange and clearly NOT faults with the camera, exposure etc and i was simply requesting any possible ideas as to what they might be (beyond the obvious) of course.
It is difficult to come up with answers to things that are sometimes unexplainable, the MOON one I thought was relevant to this forum but there was little feedback even on this one...Something i will FOREVER wonder what it is was that i captured up there on the MOON that night.
As for the questions raised...well as you point out it looks to be a GREAT TEAM and i'm not for one moment saying that anyone's done anything wrong...it was a DELIGHT to simply be a part of this MISSION...but i do hope these funds have been put to the BEST USE? especially as this project may be passed on to new people and could even become part of a different type of mission entirely...and if so WHAT HAPPENS THEN? especially if some of this money might have gone to people working on this mission that might no longer form part of any new team / mission?
I know that it's a 10 year project and the planning might take upto 3 years but I've heard nothing of how they plan to fully fund this mission and i'm understandably curious as i'm desperate for this mission to be a success and i even think this could be the start of HUGE things for LM1 (if this still is to be the name of this mission?)
I guess I've had a good outlet here for my hopes, ideas and expectations but if it's just a few of us using it then was it really worth the cost? i'm not a part of the TWITTER or FACEBOOK community but it looks like there's more happening there than on here currently which has surprised me...then again, considering the lack of interest / postings here it might be the way to go but we were never told this would be the main source of info...so was it worth setting up this LM1 webpage? perhaps if many more members are recruited to the cause later on?
And just how many members of LM1 are there right now?
Does no one at LM1 know? i mean really? i'm very curious but i'm getting the feeling it's not many more than over there at the end of the Kickstarter funding
It may well be i'm just still over-excited by this mission and that things are progressing nicely and there is no need to worry and i need to take a 'chill' pill but a little more information would be nice, especially when snippets have been disclosed.
We shall see Mike.
