This might interest ya though, it's all gone quiet on Ceres but this photo is intriguing and it gets closer in January 2016 I believe.

The Super Moon Eclipse was a sight to behold (I wonder if you woke your son up to see it?) and this won't be seen again for another 18 years.
As for Mars I think many of us suspected there was water on Mars, which means an eventually manned vist may well be able to use it in some form.
Also, Rosetta is now believed to have been formed by two different bodies which makes sense due to it's shape (peanut)
