More information about how to get involved
Between now and the launch in around 2024, we will be assembling an archive. This will be left on the Moon, at the bottom of the borehole once the deep drilling science is complete, where it can survive for an exceptionally long time. It will consist of a public archive and a private one.
The public archive will be a truly global database, collecting information from across the world. An editorial board will curate this endeavour. It will seek to involve schools and educational establishments across the world, using the opportunity to promote understanding and engagement with culture, science and technology. If you work in education or curate an archive and would like to help, please contact us.
For the private archive you can send whatever you want to the Moon if you have purchased a digital memory box. This may be a record of your own achievements, or of your family. Perhaps you have created music or film or stories that you would like to preserve on the Moon? You may also want to collate the first years of your child’s life between now and launch. Just starting a new career, chronicle your progress as you strive to reach your own ambitions. The possibilities for what you can preserve are only limited by your imagination.
As well as recording your achievements, you can also choose to send a single strand of your hair, so that your DNA is preserved.
