CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
THE ENTRANT
This competition is open to anyone aged 18 or under in two categories: Young Adults and Young People. Specifically to enter for the Young Adults competition, you must be no older than 18 years of age and older than 12 years of age by 1 September 2015; to enter for the Young Persons competition you must be under 12 years of age by 1 September 2015. Any entrant under the age of 15 on September 1st, 2015, must have the permission of either their parents or legal guardian to enter. Entry into the competition will assume that this permission has been granted and only once the individual’s age is validated, will individuals be eligible for one of the nominated prizes in the three categories.
Each entrant should answer the brief: Tocreate something inspiring that shows what YOU think should be digitally preserved for up to a billion years on the Moon, either in the main archive of Lunar Mission One or in the Lunar Mission One private time capsules.
Each individual may enter no more than 1 entry. The entry can be any visual construct that answers the brief and should be entered as either an image of the construct or a video of no more than 60 seconds. The image needs to be a clear picture of the construct so the judges can assess the piece easily. We will accept images of any 2D or 3D construct. You may consider taking a photograph, creating a model, drawing or painting a picture. Any medium will be accepted as long as entered in the correct format.
Each entrant must undertake that the work is of his or her own origination, and that they hold all moral and intellectual property rights to the work.
By entering the competition, the entrant accepts that any visual representations of their work can be displayed in any of Lunar Mission One’s or associated partner’s social media channels and may be used for promotional purposes during and after the competition. Unless express permission is given from the entrant, any work used by LM1, will be used anonymously.
There are separate prizes for the Young Person’s, Young Adults and Public Choice categories.
VIDEO CONTENT
Must be produced in .mp4 formats and be no longer than 60 seconds.
STATIC IMAGES
Images should be no larger than 1.0MB.
Entries can be only submitted through the direct link provided in the official LM1 competition communications and on the LM1 website. LM1 reserves the right to share each individual entry in its social media channels once submitted. For those unable to enter via our website, entries can be mailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and will be posted onto Facebook by the LM1 team within 24 hours of receipt.
Entries will open as of 9.00am GMT on August 29nd and will close on October 7th at 5.00pm GMT. No entries received by LM1 outside of these dates and times will be accepted.
The Judging:
LM1 reserves the right for an independent expert panel to review entrants and posted their comments on specific entrants between September 1st and October 8th, 2015.
The LM1 team will then select no more than 20 finalists in the Young Persons and Young Adult categories on October 7th by 10.00pm GMT. A list of all finalists will then be published on our social media channels and on our website on October 8th by 1.00pm GMT. The final judging will occur during World Space Week and winners will be announced through our social media channels on the 9th of October by midnight. Winners will be contacted directly by the LM1 team within 14 days and prizes will be sent to each winner once the details of the entrant has been confirmed by either the entrant if 15 or over, or by the parent or legal guardian if under the age of 15.
The judges decision is final and will be solely based on their expert opinion of which entries are the most e creative and inspiring representations of the brief.
Prizes:
All prizes are non-transferable and will be issued as digital memory boxes for our mission to the Moon.
