Would it be possible, to help solve the shipping/storage and slim profit margin problemswith the merchandise if LM1 operated a made-to-order platform? This way you would not need to have a warehouse full of merchandise to look after and not need to spend money on items that may potentially not sell. I really wanted to buy one of the LM1 shirts, mug and bags however I missed my chance. I for one would not mind paying for my order and then waiting for LM1 to use that money to have the product created specifically (hopefully still keeping the original manufacturer in touch and for the meantime selling previously unsold items).
Angela, would this idea be at all feasible?

Interesting thoughts Darryl (as always) I'm just not sure it is feasible.
I very nearly purchased a set of Baseball Cap, Pin and Bag patch but in the end I pulled back from ordering I wasn't sure it would arrive in time.
I get the sense that the merchandising might have gone on the back burner for the time being (and that might not be such a bad thing)
I remember all the talk about having this that and the other...and don't get me wrong there were some truly wonderful suggestions of merchandise but the fact is we must have the people to buy them...
We're hoping for millions of members (and to launch we'll need them) once signed up of course they'll want something real to hold, wear, use...this will come if we get these millions but right now...I think they're holding off and being careful (and to me this is sound and correct)
We don't want as you say warehouses of merchandise that no one's buying.
If this thing gets BIG (and you know how I think it will do so...with a Tv, Radio & Newsprint Advertising Campaign) then I think you'll see the merchandise take off (especially if they can bring in market brands...LEGO, APPLE? this kind of thing which in the end might also be needed to fund this mission however desperate we are to fund it ourselves with individual memberships)
We'll see how this plays out but I just hope LM-1 take hope from Tim's success up there in Space which many have cheered.

Darryl,
The price of merchandise plummets when you order over a certain amount of items, often 1000 pieces. Inversely, the fewer you order the higher the price gets. To a silly extent! Now, if we did a 'made to order' system then whoever placed the first order for a particular item would probably have to wait a long time and in all fairness we couldn't take the money unless we could give you a shipping date.
Please be assured that we DO have some merchandise left and thank you Darryl for your patience.
When we announce our next public offering - effectively when we next issue a set of digital memory boxes for sale - we will put the merchandise back on sale too. But for now, whilst we are keeping the publicity level low, we understandably will have few orders and that means a logistics nightmare!
So for you Darryl, your next opportunity for merchandise may be our next live 'update' event when of course we can sell at the event and you can take them home with you in person. )
Paul - thank you also for your support and yes, this is the approach that we are taking. The Kickstarter was carefully targeting to attract dedicated individuals with a much deeper interest in the project than the general public would have. When we target the general public we do hope to attract tens/hundreds of thousands (although millions would be good Paul, thanks for your faith in us!), however at that point we need to have our communications set up to deal with this volume and at the moment we are very heavily committed to the technical aspects of the project....which are going very well, I am pleased to say!
Once the technical part of the project is more advanced and our partnership agreements are at the stage when we can announce them, that is when we can publicly ramp up our plans, our sales and...yes, the merchandising!
Also be aware that last time I checked we also had a very few "Founder Backer" t-shirts left!
I hope 2016 is looking good for you so far. It's looking good for LM1 and I am aware it's about time we had another podcast update!! Watch this space....
