You can't say NASA don't like their Greek & Egyptian names huh? :)

Hell there's even a page about this mission which explains how they came to pick this NEO (Near Earth Object) named BENNU and even continues the theme showing a diagram in the shape of a triangle (but let's just say it's a pyramid, humour me) ;)

I do wonder sometimes if the naming of these missions and the craft they send is more significant than is ever let on? or maybe that's just me trying to read too much into them?

Still, this is yet another mission BRILLIANT mission that should greatly interest a good majority of you folks here...they aim to send Osiris (the Rex part? maybe it was someone's favourite dog?) or it's that they're visting a monster? (you know as in T-Rex) and film it with various camera's and quick snapshots as & when it finally descends down to Bennu to collect some actual soil samples and return them to Earth...Now isn't that COOL!

Geezz I really must stop trying to find a reason for everything though but if interested? here ya go...the Egyptian names are interesting :)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bennu

And here's that page explaining how they came to pick Bennu (above) very interesting.

Of course as with ALL these missions I am hoping perhaps NASA picked this out for an added reason...which they may or may not disclose (depending on what they find) ;)
