Paul Conway created the topic: ANOTHER for the MOON...say what u like about LM1
One more for the POT to The MOON.
it seems to me this place is now attracting SERIOUS business.
Trips there (hopefully more and not just a one-off, so the creation of a tourist industry), mining, a colony (for experiments), a set off place for future Space Missions including MARS.
Yup I am very HAPPY
Say what you like about Lunar Mission One & there's no question it was exciting, promising and full of super ideas (just wish they'd have got their priorities right at the start or perhaps tried one BIG PUSH / Risk to get more ordinary people involved & engaged by way of the Digital Boxes & DNA samples with a BIG Christmas Campaign be it by Tv Ad and/or Newspaper Ads) but i am still hopeful but clearly not so much so as at the start after that rather brutal statement at the start of this year that ALL the MONEY had GONE
Let's hope we get those BIG COMPANIES in & they see the sense now of getting in on such a project early on.
Having said this & say what you like about LM1 but one of the things they have got RIGHT is the destination to 'Shackleton Crater' as just about every mission now considering going to the Moon is picking this place as their landing point and for GREAT reasons.
It has virtually endless light so POWER, so if for example by some luck we do make it there then cameras could work endlessly with this solar power? which is why I still think that selfie idea is a good & quirky one that could run and run for years...
It would be taken on the Moon with Earth in the background using two pop out screens & two camera's (2 of each as you never know when you might need a back-up)
Could have worked a treat with low costs? next to nothing really? just the upload power needed from Earth to get these general public photo's sent in up to the Moon.
Plus if this LM1 spacecraft does make it up there (please let it be so) then future generations might one day find these data chips (especially if close to any future Shackleton Crater Base) and these could be slotted in a port close to these screens for future viewing (who knows? perhaps upon one of these data chips might lie something of real importance to these folks in the future along with those DNA strands)
And...then there's the water / ice more than enough for folk to drink and use for living & creating fuel...Makes Sense Huh?
So, Shackleton Crater THEY GOT THIS RIGHT if NOT the way of funding this? although i'm still hopeful, had i perhaps had the chance to buy shares in say SPACE X or this one below then i'm sure i would have given the funds, SPACE & THE MOON is going more PRIVATE and that EXCITES me (a LOT)
Check out this other guy's hopes (i'd heard of him before but it appears he's now getting serious) he along with the others knows there's much money to be made from all those various things, tourism, mining, scientific experiments conducted bringing about amazing cures or solutions, it's where it's at now.

Damn, wish i was younger...i'd have perhaps tried to set up some form of SPACE Company then again perhaps LM1 will yet evolve into something special like we'd hoped and being one of the first members I'm still proud of the fact i tried & committed money to this albeit risky venture.
as the song goes...EVERYONE's GONE to the MOON.
