Paul Conway created the topic: People of Britain...TIME for You to VOTE (Again!)
So let's have some POLITICS talk shall we (i LOVE Question Time & This Week with Andrew Neil & Michael Portillo)

So it's only 2 years ago since the last election...and then the POLLS said it would be CLOSE  Cor Blimey Gov :) could they have got it anymore WRONG! and these FOLKS get paid for this!!! EASY MONEY! only three choices really (close or one side or the other to win it) & they get 'em wrong :P

Labour were trashed by Cameron as most people just could not see Ed Milliband as Prime Minister of this GOOD Country, so what about this time?

Prime Minister May today SHOCKED many by announcing a SNAP ELECTION here in Britain (even though she had indicated she had no intention to do so & you know what?...I BELIEVE HER)

I think her PARTY, the Backbenchers & her Cabinet have probably asked her to do so & wisely I think she has agreed to, WHY?
Well she has a 20 point lead (so they say!) but can you rely on polls these days? after their calls on the last one along with Brexit, NAH probably not...however this is a little different, WHY?

The Labour Party is a disaster ZONE and this coming from someone who would pretty much VOTE for them.

Jeremy Corbyn is NO BRITISH PRIME MINISTER and I think this coupled with one of the most awful Shadow Cabinets in recent times could (and I can't believe I am saying this) SHOULD & I think WILL lead to a LANDSLIDE WIN the likes of which I don't think we've seen in many a year.

Corbyn vs May to run this country? hmm let me think a whole second & yup it's MAY (although she really needs to confirm early that she has no intention of making the NHS private & that she will try to find funds for it & Schools) after this it's a no brainer really.

Let's just hope PUTIN has no involvement this time  in helping put Prime Minister Corbyn in charge of this country (frankly I doubt he & his cabinet could run a chip shop for more than a few months without difficulties)
He is clearly a union man & backs up his shadow cabinet with many from this background, in the early days of this country the unions were not a bad thing, in fact they helped many back then, but today, now? not so much! they like the TORY TOFF section of the Conservative Party only look after themselves (they certainly did not help my younger sister in the NUT union when she needed help...thankfully to some small degree some of these so called toffs (ETON and the likes) are not front & centre so much.

The likes of Len McCluskey & Bob Crow appear to be living it up on fees from the likes of my sister at the likes of the Waldorf? or Claridges? something like this wasn't it reported in the paper a year or two ago having TEA there, how VERY NICE  one can only laugh at how the times have changed.

As for the Labour Shadow Cabinet...WHOLLY MOOLLEY are we in trouble if the GOOD people of Britain vote this lot in...let's see shall we...

Tom Watson, seems a decent, ok man but is in with the unions, thankfully he seems to have witnessed close up what Corbyn is like & doesn't seem to like it which should send signals out to all us voters out here.

John McDonnell, seems to be very similar to Corbyn in his views so NOPE not a fan.

Emily Thornberry, like Mr Watson seems like a decent sort but I just wonder if normally she would get anywhere near a cabinet of any sort in previous years?

Diane Abbott...Well if Emily above is a surprise inclusion in the cabinet this lady is a SHOCKER & IMHO would never have got close to being within a cabinet years ago, MP fine, in charge of sections of government FORGET IT.

Cat Smith...They say if your good enough it doesn't matter what your age but in POLITICS I think you NEED EXPERIENCE & due perhaps to ALL those that resigned from this SHADOW CABINET she has been brought in as needs must but there is NO WAY she would be in such a cabinet years ago, she is also very loyal (or so it seems?) to Mr Corbyn which as you can sense is NOT a GOOD THING in my eyes!

Don't get me wrong there are some OK, even GOOD shadow cabinet members here but so MANY of the GOOD one's that should be here are on the backbenchers (and it might be those that are inwardly, secretively cheering today for it may (Theresa May) does them a favour in the long run)

So yes as you've no doubt gathered this normally LABOUR voter will be casting his vote for a strong Theresa May (don't let me down, if she keeps the NHS away from private hands & gives us the BEST DEAL in BREXIT talks, if she does she may even get my vote again!)

Corbyn & McDonnell have an attitude about them...so for them to have ANY CHANCE of getting close to winning this they would need to soften this!

THIS IS A VERY CLEVER DECISION...but hey if the British public votes for Corbyn so be it (although I might suspect Putin had something to do with this  )

Nicola Sturgeon (SNP) is someone I like, it's just so SAD she wants to break up the British Union so they can remain in the EU (who will take the Scots money & offer very little in return & of course they lose ALL FUNDING from the rest of Britain) and as someone who truly LOVES SCOTLAND I find this SAD.

If your a LABOUR Supporter (still?) then here is who you'll be voting into REAL POWER....Yikes!!! think carefully FOLKS.
www.labour.org.uk/people/filter/c/shadow-cabinet

Now I do understand most don't talk about politics but when YOUR Countries FUTURE is at STAKE...I feel you must & I DO NOT WANT THAT MAN & HIS CABINET in POWER...can you imagine his talks with the EU??? he might actually give them parts of our country away to them

Take in the debates & consider well & if any of you folks still think Corbyn & Co are BEST for this country then so be it but I have to say to you YOUR WRONG!

I EXPECT a HUGE MAJORITY for the Tories...and I wish Prime Minister MAY well in the BREXIT talks.

LET THE MADNESS BEGIN....

So, DAY 1 after the ELECTION is CALLED and who shows up on the STREETS?

After NOT having seen or heard of him for months yup it's Corbyn sprouting all that you'd expect from him (he's right too in many respects) but my does he come over as an angry & bitter man with a serious attitude problem, so nope I will NOT be voting for him unless Mrs May does or says something dramatic that might change my mind & I dare say a good number of other normally Labour voters who also do not see him as Prime Minister Material.

A spanner has been thrown into the works early though...

Mrs May has stated her intention NOT to take part in ANY of the Tv debates.

Personally I can understand this tactic & it may well pay off, she can make no mistakes if not there & will avoid being drawn into a slanging match by him, however, many in this day & age would EXPECT to see any FUTURE Prime Minister debate all the important issues & hear of their policies, so to some this will be a BIG MISTAKE but considering the lead she has & the state the Labour Party is in she may well feel it more of a risk to appear in live debates than not.

As I understand it (unlike the USA) she does NOT by law have to appear in any of these debates (and there is already BAD MOUTHING by the others, WOW! didn't see that coming did you?) but I would be VERY surprised if she did not appear in at least one of these debates? and I think she needs too.

She seems to me to have a battle mode (and this is something we'll need to see from her should she win this election to take on the EU in Brexit talks) she also seems like a cool customer (something she could show in one debate appearance surely? to confirm such a thing to any wavering voters)

Prime Minister MAY (+ Points)

1) Intelligent
2) Strong Willed (but will listen to others it seems & change her mind if needs be & if it makes sense...hence THIS ELECTION at THIS TIME!)
3) Knows her own mind & says what she feels (yes we have nuclear weapons & has said SHE would use them if NEEDS BE, they ARE silly, stupid weapons that SHOULD have NO PLACE on THIS EARTH but we do have CRAZY Countries (Still) & we all know if we are paying many millions for these damn things then a deterrent is ONLY such a thing if the person in charge is GOD FORBID willing to use them...and she said she would.
4) Removed a good number of Toffs from her Cabinet (still got BORIS I know :P & a few others) but it seems to show she knows what the average person thinks of this sort, NOT SAYING all toffs are BAD & ONLY interested in MONEY but well let's be honest most of 'em do well that & the POWER they are able to wield...it's that ELITE mentality.
5) Dropped in it by the Brexit Vote but to me has been STRONG ever since being elected Conservative Leader & Prime Minister & seems to mean business? she WILL listen to what the EU has to say but woe betide they try to cheat Britain...PLAY Nice & I think she will also, take us on & it seems to me she'll simply say ON YOUR BIKE (Britain survived & thrived without the EU & will do so again)
60 Billion GET OUT MONEY from us...REALLY??? OK, so we should DEMAND 70 Billion for ALL the money we paid & they wasted over the years!
6) Has a GOOD attitude & BIGS UP BRITAIN...we'll BE OK and I think she's right.

(- Points)

1) She is still the head of a PARTY (Conservatives) that still seems to look down on most ordinary people STRUGGLING to cope with EVERYDAY Life.
2) The NHS is ALWAYS a WORRY with the Tories (she should come out straight away & say that ON HER WATCH & WITH HER IN CHARGE there shall be NO CHARGES to the PUBLIC for access to the NHS in ANYWAY including Tablets! if she does this as I see her as an Honourable person I think I would BELIEVE her and it would perhaps end THIS DEBATE on the NHS early! she clearly needs to find more funds for it too from somewhere)
3) NOT ALL People on Benefits & the Like are BAD people looking for something for nothing (I know there are still some that take advantage of the system) but the likes of moving folks out of their rental homes because they have a spare room etc is SILLY & HARSH especially when they have lived there for a good percentage of their lives!

Prime Minister CORBYN (+ Points)

1) He's the leader of the LABOUR PARTY!
I don't know HOW or WHY this happened...well I tell I lie I do know, LABOUR are STUPID! and the how is the likes of Margret Becket that thought it would be a GOOD idea to allow him onto the ballot by way of allowing everyone a voice (including his mischievous UNION type) made a monumental ERROR & he somehow created an AMAZING rally around him bringing in subscribers to the LABOUR PARTY that wanted him as their leader.
2) I have to say I am now struggling...I am sure deep down he's an OK, even CARING man but I cannot honestly think of another plus point in having him as OUR Leader, clearly the NHS will be hammered home to people (and rightly so) and I do think that it's safer in LABOUR HANDS than in TORIES (who somewhere down the line i'm sure many would like to PRIVATISE...I know the funding of this is HUGE & DIFFICULT, manufacturing MONEY out of thin air simply can't happen but it must remain something we ALL have access to whilst cutting down on TOURISM HEALTH SCAMS and their like)

(- points)

1) I think MOST sensible people can see HE IS NOT PRIME MINISTER Material...SORRY but it's TRUE...if you thought ED MILLIBAND might have been a POOR one then imagine this fella in 10 DOWNING STREET? I can't really.

2) A huge percentage of his SHADOW CABINET wanted him OUT & many left (tells you ALL you need to know really)...leaving him with a sub standard SHADOW CABINET consisting of the likes of Diane Abbott & Co.
You WANT THIS LOT in control? Nah really? you DO?

3) I'm fairly sure (sorry if I am not quoting him exactly here but it went something like this) that during the PARIS terrorist attack I think it was? or shortly after it he was asked what he would do with regards to such an attack?
And it was pretty much something along the lines of...he would have NEGOTIATED with them!!!
You have GOT to be (Bleeping) Kidding Me!!! are you SERIOUS man?

4) So he may well keep SOME of the nuclear deterrent submarines & missiles but HAS already stated he WOULD NOT EVER USE THEM!!!!
Way to go! Pay many millions for something you will NEVER use whatever the circumstance, STUPID is the WORD we're looking for.
I could understand if out of principle he said he WANTED NONE & would NOT use them but this is just a SILLY STANCE, the trouble for him is that a good percentage of the LABOUR PARTY sensibly in this damn silly dangerous World would still want to maintain such things & rightly if SADLY so.

5) He comes over as incredibly angry & with a serious attitude problem (I think even he cannot believe he became LABOUR LEADER)

6) He is almost certainly in the POCKETS of the UNIONS (which in it's way is as BAD as the TORY TOFFS looking after their own...RICH, POWERFUL, ELITE (the BANKERS in short))

7) He does NOT strike me as a TOUGH Negotiator...he couldn't even tell the cameraman & press to get out whilst having a meeting & YOU want this man to deal with the EU & Brexit? (and the snakes there including THAT MAN whose NAME I shall not SPEAK of HERE AGAIN but let's just say it rhymes with well with a naughty word or is similar to a German WW2 warplane  ) HE'D GET EATEN UP & Spat OUT before Breakfast had taken place.

I think you get where i'm going with this...

It's pretty much an appeal from a normally LABOUR Voting guy to switch (if like I you normally voted LABOUR or LIBS even although that's pretty much a wasted vote thesedays) & KEEP Prime Minister MAY in POWER who I BELIEVE will try to be a GOOD, STRONG Prime Minister worthy of being so.

There should be another plus side to a PRIME MINISTER MAY win & that is he (Corbyn) who should never have been here in the first place (most of us can see it & even a good percentage of his own party can now see this) will be GONE or he should be, although based on his attitude he'll probably cling on but one way or another especially if the MARGIN of LOSS is as big as expected with many LABOUR Folks losing their seats & incomes :( this party should have a NEW LEADER not too far from now...if another UNIONIST you can forget it though.
Perhaps they'll choose the RIGHT Miliband this time? DAVID who should have won but for the FACT that the UNIONS backed his wishy washy brother or perhaps DAN JARVIS?
Let's be honest, almost anyone would be better than who they currently have but hey it's a CRAZY WORLD and perhaps we too will also get a CRAZY LEADER?

The Debates & Late Night Talk & Campaign should prove to be very interesting if your interested in Politics (and as you might have guessed I am)

Paul Conway replied the topic: People of Britain...TIME for You to VOTE (Again!)
And having said all this on DAY 2...

I would suggest it went Corbyn (Labour) 1 vs May (Conservatives) 0

And although i understand keeping the triple lock for pensions (and so pensioners) can be costly it is something they should try their BEST tp keep (Corbyn said he would, so good points scoring there for him) and it's the pensioners remember that DO get out & vote in ALL WEATHER.
May has not said anything on this but she should & i would recommend she protects them by keeping it & so keeping the pensioners HAPPY (most deserve it)

Another own goal? if the papers are proven to be correct might be the tories decision to hit everyone (not just those that can perhaps afford it (working) but those on very low income (pensioners)) by upping VAT.
This will HIT EVERYONE in the POCKET (at a time when many are struggling & with Brexit it may do so for sometime before it hopefully corrects itself in the future)

She'd be well advised (by me) to leave alone VAT, along with this triple lock for pensioners & to make it clear EARLY that the NHS is safe in her hands (saying she will NOT make it a pay service to see doctors & A&E)
If she does this then i think she wins by a landslide margin.

This is the problem i (and many normally Labour voters have with the Tories) they do hit the worst off (and always have) & look after their own (the rich & powerful)

But Today, surprisingly it was a WIN DAY for Corbyn & Labour (hell he even managed to get his Union Leader friend re-elected despite strong opposition)
So Corbyn 2 (as i'm fairly sure they won't increase VAT on stuff for everyone...they'll target as they should INCOME TAX) vs May 0

So after all i'd previously said this was NOT the best of starts really for the Tories & Corbyn was again seen reading another book to the younger kids...Awww (looking like Grandpa)

At this rate...who knows simply by default he'll get back into this race, especially if perhaps tomorrow May & Co come out with news of higher charges for prescription medicines (again hitting the mainly older generation) or heaven forbid introducing charges to use the NHS (visits to doctors or hospitals) BEST NOT Mrs MAY....by all means recover charges from those coming into this country who use our NHS as TOURIST Medical Seekers but NOT for all those that have paid in for years and rely on this service (if I had my CHOICE & could AFFORD to do so I would PAY all the NURSES Bankers & Footballers wages and let them have the NURSES wages...for my money the NURSES are overworked & paid far less for a harder more troubling Job)

So to ALL THE NURSES OUT THERE....I salute you & THANK-YOU.

I have still not changed my mind on Mrs May being (presently, given the choices) the best for this country & although i understand this Tory Government has been put into a difficult posistion with regards to raising money...THEY SHOULD DO SO with PEOPLE THAT CAN AFFORD IT (loud enough for ya Prime Minister) in other words leave the Triple Lock in place, forget about raising VAT for everyone (including the poor) make sure the NHS remains FREE for EVERYONE (except medical seeking tourists that make the trip specifically for such a thing)

And raise funds by raising INCOME TAX...See Simples B) NO CHARGE & YOU WIN THE ELECTION by doing so :cheer:

So, it's already getting interesting both here in the UK & over the channel in FRANCE.

Paul Conway replied the topic: People of Britain...TIME for You to VOTE (Again!)
DAY 3 (Putting on my Big Brother voice over guy impression :) )
NO I don't watch it! I blame this type of programme for social standards dropping...but I have seen clips from the diary room with the voice over guy doing so in his North East accent.

Weekends are normally fairly quiet but I spotted Corbyn on the Andrew Marr programme this morning & i thought I would give him a chance & watch him (we have to be fair & listen to even those we disagree with right? ) & to be FAIR he came across OK, he smiled even when Mr Marr interrupted him & surprisingly (to me) he wasn't his usual aggressive iI've got a chip on my shoulder) attitude self.
PERHAPS someone has had a word with him?

And he made some GOOD points too i thought, especially with regards to the NHS, they do have input by the likes of Private firms BUPA & others which I imagine as he said must be costing us more than it should? he'll score points on the NHS big time unless Mrs May defends herself & the Tories against what some may think is a backdoor way into the NHS...insisting that we take out (if we can afford it) private insurance or as a way of pay as you go.
Both no no's, although I do appreciate that the National Health Service is always going to be costly & finding funds for it difficult unless we perhaps tackle some subjects seriously...

With regards to the NHS there has been talk of those CLEARLY NOT TAKING CARE of themselves should pay for certain treatments?
What da you folks think of that?

They're talking if you have chosen to be VASTLY overweight (and it's clearly proven to be your fault) then this put's a strain not only on your HEART but a strain on the NHS purse strings when it shouldn't!
We ALL KNOW SALT & SUGAR are bad for you if you have TOO MUCH & education really could prove to be useful to future generations, schools should teach this to the younger kids sooner I think?
OR if you still choose to SMOKE in this day & age (I know people are still addicted to this) but i am at a loss as to how folks can still smoke these vile things when they know the damage it does to you & others around you) BREATHING & HEART Problems!

I find myself in some agreement with this stance...if everyone took just a little more care of themselves (and I am not perfect either) then surely we wouldn't have as many problems with these subjects & could concentrate on those illnesses brought on by simply being unlucky & so less strain on the NHS.

I am also in full agreement with those people having been found to have been drunk & who perhaps cut themselves or have had a small accident in which they have had to visit A&E should then perhaps PAY for this treatment (when & if they are able to do so) as it was through doing this that they've had to visit (I know could be hard to prove on some occasions but it's so plainly obvious at times like Friday & Saturday LATE NIGHTS!)

Controversial I know....But we might have to find ways of funding our LOVED NHS, so might this perhaps be the way to go?
So if your NOT simply over weight but your well over your BODY MASS fat measurement & medical assistance is needed you will have to pay (especially if you have clearly been easting too many CAKES, Chocs & BISCUITS) for surgery? and possible even visits?
I think it might cut these avoidable problems in the future...and the WHOLE HEALTH of the UK could be BETTER for it?

Of course...if we head this way (especially with the Tories) then it might be the start of a slippery path in which as I say EVERYONE has to PAY as YOU GO & that is NOT what I am saying or recommending, i'm just trying to find a better way to FIND the money needed by the NHS & this might be one way to go along with getting all the needless accountants OUT.

So yeah he talked some sense here...but then...

He could not really come up with anything with regards to Brexit, we have to have an agreement with them he said (even if it means free movement) that will be difficult for many that voted OUT to stomach, he like many of us do NOT KNOW where this leaving fee comes from??? and even if it is in there somewhere??? 60 BILLION is a JOKE! search Juncker's BANK ACCOUNT i'm sure he'll have close to that

Defence was mentioned again but I can't say I've altered my views on this either...THIS COUNTRY in this sadly dangerous WORLD is safer under the Tories & this along with Brexit & the fact that I think Teresa May is the stronger willed & more intelligent & calmer candidate will still almost certainly be getting this person's vote (although as with many normally LABOUR voters will need to hear her views on the NHS & the TRIPLE LOCK for old folks who deserve it, especially these days when retirement is heading up towards 67, 68 & in another 20 years time will be closer to 70!!!)

I must say though his attitude here this morning was a nice surprise...now if only he could sort out a good number of his polices, break free from the UNIONS in his pocket & get together a shadow cabinet that at least LOOKS like they could govern this COUNTRY.

Sadly that ain't gonna happen.

Paul Conway replied the topic: People of Britain...TIME for You to VOTE (Again!)
He was doing OK for 3 Days...but it's MONDAY and the start of the first full week...and well...

He (Corbyn) just couldn't help himself & from the clips I saw he'd reverted somewhat to the shouty, angry attitude we've all seen before.

He stated he wanted more POWERS for the UNIONS within his party & in general (just the opposite thoughts i'd have thought for most people? these unions & the leaders are NOT WHAT THEY WERE...in their own way they are just as POWER MAD as supporters & members of the TORY PARTY)

He still has no clue as to a DEFENSIVE Policy, he says he'll go with the majority decision who voted to leave the EU (how very kind of him) but SERIOUSLY you think THIS GUY will get us a GOOD DEAL in the NEGOTIATIONS?)

Whilst I have some admiration for Mrs May & will VOTE for her! WELL SOME CHOICE WE'VE BEEN GIVEN AGAIN!!! I think we're lucky we got Teresa May as an option!!!! it might have been oh so much worse! it's really her PARTY that does seem to favour (and it's been proven) the RICH, POWERFUL & ELITE that I object too but as Corbyn as shown his TRUE COLOURS only a few days into campaigning I think & expect the writing is on the wall with regards to this fella! he'll be a footnote in history for sure but that's ALL i'm hoping.

The choices in recent years both here in the UK & over in the USA have been appalling (IS THERE NO INTELLIGENT, SAVY, LISTENING, STRONG yet KIND individuals ANYMORE to run these countries??? or have ALL the good & clever one's given up BECAUSE they know who really RUNS THIS PLANET  you folks really should watch "TIMELESS" as I fear it may be something close to the truth barring the invention of Time Travel :P )

After having NOT seen Corbyn for weeks & months on end...the election is announced & he shows up on Tv endlessly

He had a decent first few days but he simply cannot help himself (his true nature & polices come to the fore) in which case May's & the Tories strategy of leaving him too it will probably PAY OFF i'd have thought?
He will of course get votes BUT I hope NOT too many from you folks here on LM1? who I think can see that he is NOT a BAD MAN it's just that he LUCKED into becoming the leader of a shadow government that is still one of the most powerful & influential countries in the WORLD.

DO YOU REALLY WANT THIS MAN IN CHARGE???

I did like the idea of more bank holidays for Britain though :cheer:
He was right about that one 4 more if he was Prime Minister...we have FAR LESS than others in EUROPE & he's right FAMILY & MORE Time with them is important...just don't think this one decent policy will swing it for him with me ;)
