He was NOT the BEST BOND but my oh my oh my was he an ENTERTAINING BOND & he was my BOND (as he was James Bond 007 when I was a child)
My very first James Bond picture seen at the cinema was "The Man with the Golden Gun" & it is a SUPER FUN, Entertaining film.

His Best Bond picture without a doubt was "The Spy who Loved Me" with the introduction of JAWS, "MOONRAKER" is damn silly but you can't help but LOVE IT (especially if like me your a Science Fiction fan) & of course Jaws returned for a final time (Richard Kiel was a GREAT villain), before these he had made his debut in the role with "Live & Let Die" which has that CLASSIC THEME Tune, a beautiful co-star (Jane Seymour) and a fun, quirky plot with a neat crocodiles sequence! his later Bond films were all good & fun but didn't quiet match up to these here.

I also have fun memories of watching him as a very young child in the BRILLIANT Tv Series given to us by SIr Lew Grade "THE PERSUADERS" opposite Tony Curtis...this had one of the most sombre (chilling) yet for me memorable THEME TUNES of any Tv series & yet the episodes themselves were nothing like this tune...they were fun, quirky & had great chemistry...and of course he was the original SAINT.

Growing up in the 1970's & 80's he featured in a good number of movies I saw & thoroughly enjoyed such as "GOLD" about a South African gold mine, it's a bit ropey but if you had Sir Roger in your cast it was always watchable (raised eyebrows or not! :cheer: I loved that he would do this in some of his interviews) "SHOUT at the DEVIL" is one of those films I discovered by accident...hey it's got Roger Moore in it i'll give it a go, again great chemistry with Lee Marvin.

These two were good, a bit ropey but good but I well always have a soft spot for "CANNONBALL RUN" in which he spoofed his BOND persona & it's a FUN CHASE COMEDY also "THE WILD GEESE" many fellas my age in there 40's will remember this & the AMAZING cast of MOORE, BURTON & HARRIS, always with that cigar hanging from his mouth...the drugs scene is a standout with Roger as is the finale with Harris just not quiet making it.
And finally "NORTH SEA HIJACK" which has no right to be as entertaining & as well done as it is, FOULKES interest in cats is rather amusing (especially at the end here)

Yup Sir Roger was a fun actor and whilst NOT the BEST (or even my favourite) BOND his was THE MOST ENTERTAINING of all the BONDS so far & will ENJOY these films for however long I am lucky to remain on this Planet.

He had a quirky, naughty nature about him too, some might say a little un PC in these times...but i kinda liked that, the CARRY ON humour, KENNY EVERETT style is something many of we Brits of a certain age remember with fondness.

And yet Sir Roger despite faults (as have we all) was a generous & kind actor who in later life spent a good deal of time raising funds & helping UNICEF.

Of all the Days to depart this World he choose well...Guide those young departed one's Sir Roger & Take Care of them.

This has NOT been a GOOD Day...but I haven't really got the words for what happened in Manchester last night, except to say that of all places to have targeted he choose this concert! just about says it all for the HUMANS :( that do such things!

RIP all of you

Sir Roger also I recently found out supported PETA (wearing animals is a strange thing to do these days) and the fact Roger supported ANIMALS well this just makes me LOVE him even more.

As for this awful moment in time...i recently heard that Ariana Grande? is that spelt right? whom i have to be honest i had never heard of HAS OFFERED TO PAY ALL THE FUNERAL COSTS FOR THOSE THAT HAVE DIED
BEAUTIFUL...WHAT A WONDERFUL THING TO DO, WHAT A HUMAN BEING, you forget the effect it must have had on this lady (who by all accounts is a caring STAR...well in my eyes she is now just this A STAR!)
Apparently her mother also help shepherd about 10 youngsters to safety

THERE MIGHT BE GOOD THINGS THAT COME FROM THIS.

A Super Roger Moore Documentary.

He was a FUN Actor & a SUPER JAMES BOND...perhaps the next James Bond might be a little more like him?

It's good to change things around a bit (so long as they're GOOD) there has never been a BAD or even a POOR Bond, George Lazenby only made 1 James Bond picture but WOW! was it a beauty "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and what's more he was EXCELLENT in it too.

So having had Daniel Craig do a downright BRILLIANT James Bond similar in vain to CONNERY's & DALTON's it might be FUN & DIFFERENT to go this FUN BOND Route once again (ala Sir Roger Moore)
We could do with a FUN Bond I think next? BUT WHO TO PLAY HIM? and YES I did say HIM...i'm with Sir Roger, sometimes political correctness goes MAD...JAMES BOND WAS ALWAYS WRITTEN as a MAN! and BRITISH! NOT Female or American

Roger was my Bond but Connery still remains (for me) THE BEST BOND but I like 'em all.

ENJOY the DOC.
