Paul Conway created the topic: DOCTOR WHO is a....WHAT!!!
Doctor Who is a regenerating TIMELORD (oh no!) OH & the NEW one is a WOMAN (nice)

Well about TIME

Seriously, some folks are going to get all WEIRD about this!
Personally I see no problem whatsoever, in fact it could make it a very interesting & quirky series.

It could be BRILLIANT or it might be a DISASTER...but it's an INTERESTING & COURAGOUS way to go...WATCH THIS SPACE  (stop it Chris) :P

So the Doctor has always regenerated...this is part of the fun of the series (you never know when their time   is up) & if he can do this & we all should know by now it's completely random who HE (come back to this later) becomes then why shouldn't HE...become a WOMAN at least visually,

Well because of this random choice there is NO REASON really, although wasn't the doctor originally born on Galifrey as a male? if so then it's a curious & bold choice for sure.

Now here's a WHAT IF...

So what if he regenerates into a woman for the first time & it's a glitch? probably NOT because we've already seen THE MASTER regenerate into MISSY (wonderful by the way) so scrap that.
HOWEVER if the doctor was originally born a MALE then clearly (unless he can't remember?) this will cause some problems for his mind set perhaps? this is WHERE it could get very QUIRKY & INTERESTING.

There was talk around 10-15 years ago of Joanna Lumley becoming the Doctor...and I think she would have been smashing in the role!

With all the rumours over the years about this & a black doctor i'm surprised they never had the doctor regenerate very briefly (say for 30 seconds or so as a BIG FEMALE ACTING Name (like Joanna) because people found it so intriguing & then switch him back to a guy as a JOKE.
Or go all the way with a BLACK FEMALE Doctor  we have had some EXCELLENT black female companions in recent times that would not have looked out of place as the doctor...but perhaps this would have been pushing political correctness too much? not they I believe in any such things anyway!

THIS SHAKES UP THE WHOLE DOCTOR WHO Scenario & it's going to be interesting...I think I already like her...the TEASER TRAILER with the HOOD & THE KEY was tongue in cheek but I LIKED IT.

I will just say this with regards to GENDER SWAPS...

Should the wonderful BARBARA BROCCOLI ever, EVER!!! make JAMES BOND female then i'm outta there!
I am a HUGE 007 (BOND) fan and Fleming created him as such, these days (even with Daniel Craig doing such an epic job as James Bond) the character has been toned down for modern audiences but in a good way but to make James Bond a female would be NUTS!!!! and really would be POLITICAL CORRECTNESS gone CRAZY!
It would be the BIGGEST ERROR EVER in the MOVIES...you want to make a JANE BOND (similar to James Bond) fine go ahead but FLEMING would be turning in his grave if she made this choice. SHE WON'T SHE's A VERY CLEVER WOMAN & PRODUCER.

You want a BLACK JAMES BOND? I don't even know why such a thing is even brought up these days (I guess it just shows we still have these hang up's to some degree of the colour of skin? CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT ?)

Get IDRIS ELBA in as 007 next if Mr Craig no longer wants the role? not because of political correctness rubbish but because here is a GOOD ACTOR who LOOKS the part, he's one fit 44 year old, colour makes no difference...I wonder if "THE DARK TOWER" is a big success if Barbara Broccoli might go this way? hope so, oh & he's British!

But sorry ladies 007 is MALE.

You wouldn't want a MALE 'Mary Poppins' now would you? and so you shouldn't that too was written as a female character.

SOMETIMES this kind of talk just makes you wonder what kind of world we live in.

But YEAH a FEMALE Doctor Who....VERY INTERESTING.

Oh and it seems THE SUN & one other paper just could not resist themselves...I do hope it was done with some tongue in cheek because she was the 1st woman to get the part of the Doctor? but those newspaper reports were clearly sexist & this poor lady having won a DREAM job gets this!!!
Not right & a crying...

SHAME.

I have not read it yet but it seems they focused on this actresses nude roles...way to go SUN, not sure had Chris Marshall got the role if he would have got the same treatment?

She's attractive but I thought THE SUN got rid of PAGE 3 because o the times they were a changing? personally, I had no problem with the old page 3 it was a newspaper tradition that did no one any harm (but again the political correctness brigade just couldn't let it go) at least PAGE 3 had some class about it...LOVE ISLAND? hmm NOT REALLY.

Ah well...I think she will rise above it & do a GREAT job as the DOCTOR just based on this brief TEASER Trailer which I enjoyed....BRING on the DALEK's!

It was PLEASING to see many of the Ex Doctors come out in support of JODIE WHITTAKER.

I do understand those that might be bothered about the GENDER SWAP because unless I am gravely mistaken? THE DOCTOR was born & brought up on Galifrey as a MALE.

But hold your horses folks...this is SCIENCE FICTION, the Doctor regenerates & we know IT'S RANDOM...so there has never really been a reason WHY the next Doctor could not be female.

The BIG QUESTION is...

How will this PLAY OUT?

If they simply ignore THIS & continue as if NOTHING major has happened then I forsee BIG TROUBLE ahead with the hardcore fans.

I'm guessing they WILL address it (clearly) but in a proper fashion! NOT just a OH SO WE'RE a WOMAN NOW ARE WE! :) u can use that line Beeb if you like? :) the doctor although very different in his incarnations I think knows of his past, sometimes it takes awhile after regeneration but he does seem to know where he came from, who he is, who he has fought & his previous adventures & companions.

Which makes this choice courageous, bold & VERY INTERESTING indeed.

The Doctor's whole being is MALE but he now has a FEMALE body just how do they play this? with FUN (would be my choice & could make for a very QUIRKY series) or do they brush it aside & simply say yeah brought up a male but the regeneration changes all that & now he's a female in BOTH BODY & SOUL ? well...it might work but GOOD LUCK with that choice.

It's a good thing he is a TIME LORD ;) who can random regenerate into any figure because if he was simply a well known character such as 007 & they made this female? well you can FORGET that franchise! I just can't understand the POLITICALLY CORRECT GROUPS ? if Bond was written as a MALE SPY then how in the world can you turn him into a WOMAN...utter NONSENSE!
Same goes for the ICONIC female characters...YEAH I think we should have a MALE "Mary Poppins" so ditch the BRILLIANT Emily Blount who is next up in the role and get a MAN in instead
"Little Women" Poppycock...WE MEN DEMAND "Little Men" (only those 5 feet 5 inches or less NEED APPLY...terms & conditions must be READ) :)

YEAH Nuts isn't it?

I LOVE Barbarella & Jane Fonda in the role is a JOY to BEHOLD, she plays it wonderful TONGUE in CHEEK & she is breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL so why not GENDER SWAP if they ever REMAKE IT??? WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah my thoughts exactly.

It's why I don't really get this MALE becoming more FEMALE & FEMALES becoming more MALE thing?
Sorry, I just don't get it, I know of LOVE ISLAND (not my thing) and hey if you like it GREAT, I love stuff that 99% of folks would never watch like "HORIZON" so Live & Let Live but those Guys on there!!! really! CLINT EASTWOOD, SEAN CONNERY, BURT REYNOLDS, STEVE McQUEEN, ROBERT REDFORD, PAUL NEWMAN, HARRISON FORD & the utterly charming & wonderful JAMES STEWART these were the guys I were brought up on!
Where did these types ALL GO....to get waxes, manicures, hair, face & nails done THAT's WHERE!

So maybe we will get MEN playing WOMEN's roles fairly soon....the MIND BOGGLES.

But a FEMALE Doctor? no reason why not but as one of the ex DR WHO's Tom Baker quiet correctly stated...

She better be good & the stories too, otherwise you must ditch her, which is quiet right, right? if something doesn't work? but personally, I think she will be like a breath of fresh air to the series & if the stories are BETTER of more EPIC SCOPE of adventure & discovery then we should be A-OK.
There's a whole UNIVERSE to SEE not just EARTH...get out there DOCTOR.

Good Luck JODIE.

Oh & no political correctness right BBC? so no MALE companion JUST because the Doctor is FEMALE (bet it is...you watch!) surprise me!

And while we are it I do hope she will be getting PAID at least the same as PETER CAPALDI ?

CRAZY Figures recently released makes a MOCKERY of everyone being EQUAL...How can HUGH EDWARDS be getting so much more for presenting the news as FIONA BRUCE or EMILY MATLISS...gezzz I LOVE THE BEEB but come on THOSE DAYS ARE PAST, GONE, FINITO.

Oh & for the RECORD...to date my 3 Favourite DOCTORS have been...SPACE AGE COUNTDOWN.

3) JON PERTWEE...Peter Capaldi as another older Doctor at times (in certain episode's) comes mighty close to PERTWEE.
2) MATT SMITH...He has been for me by FAR the best of the newest Doctors, Quirky, Energetic (certainly that) :) & Inventive.
1) TOM BAKER...I was at that age of around 8 years old that he entered as the Doctor & I took note...SCARF, HAT, Jelly BABIES & some real BABE Companions (  ) That's NOT politically correct CHRIS? I know  they were GORGEOUS especially MARY TAMM & of course K9 he really shouldn't have worked BUT he DID "AFFIRMATIVE MASTER" but then again i was only 8 & a highly intelligent & useful ROBOT DOG! well isn't that something all kids of that age would LOVE to have for Christmas?

So JODIE's FEMALE...blah blah blah, moan ALL YOU WANT...but if she's GOOD & the stories MATCH then she could well MAKE my TOP 3? and who knows aim for the TOP JODIE...the BEST DOCTOR Ever?

As I like to SAY "Anything is Possible"

My DOCTOR with one of his BABE  Companions in the rather lovely form of Louise Jameson.

I really do like this POSED FOR publicity shot from the late 1970's & the STARES from BOTH of them (but especially TOM) & the curiously why it has been framed with the MIRROR Reflection (there's something OTHERWORDLY & COOL about it)

Not only is it signed by still (just, Matt pushes him awfully close I think) my FAVOURITE Doctor 'TOM BAKER' but one of my favourite companions LEELA (Louise Jameson), the only one's that are a match for her (don't forget I was 8  ) were MARY TAMM, Katy Manning (as JO from the PERTWEE Era) & Karen Gillan (as AMY POND) now I just don't know WHY this is

BTW if you like this signed photo (it is genuine) they can still (if your lucky) be picked up for around the £10-15 mark (although many single Tom Baker signed photo's are around the £20) but try a search here in the UK on E-Bay for OUR DISAPPEARING PLANET.

Not only do they get these wonderful folks (actors/actresses & musicians mainly) to sign for them it's ALL for a GOOD CAUSE.

HELPING ANIMALS...so not only do you get a cool genuine signature or two (if your lucky) but it helps the AMAZING CREATURES of OUR PLANET.

And here's a little TIP : Sometimes it's worth waiting because they have auctions that start from as little as 99p (not many sell for this of course especially the characters from such things as Dr Who but they can sometimes be picked up a good deal less than other sellers)
