Paul Conway created the topic: TOP 20 BEST PLACES to LIVE in the UK
This is a bit different isn't it
No ALIENS or UFO's? what's up with you Chris...well believe it or not, I have many interests (it's just that the UFO / ALIEN subject is something I've LOVED as a kid & as I've grown older & seen, read & discovered more & more about it, THANKS it must be said to the web my eyes have been opened & I've simply tried in I hope a REASONABLE WAY? to open some of you folks eyes out there)
So, the 20 BEST PLACES to LIVE in the UK.
It will come as NO SURPRISE to folks in the UK to hear that the MAJORITY of these are SOUTH of BIRMINGHAM
Such things are written down there & many have never even visited places north of Birmingham.
I won't list all 20 just the interesting or surprising one's (to some)
No 20) LONDON...a surprise!
I would have thought it would be much HIGHER?
It seems the main reason for living down there are the average wages (£1,106 per Week) very nice if you can get it when compared to (£650 average elsewhere in the UK) however this is tempered by the INCREDIBLE HOUSE PRICES here (hence my recent 'It's cheaper on MARS than in LONDON' joke) wages might be bigger but it will take you LONGER to PAY OFF the MORTGAGE.
It's also like a RAT RACE & it seems to many of us BUSINESS CRAZY!
Yup it's a PLACE mainly for THE ELITE...still a surprise though!
18) SHETLAND ISLANDS (Scotland)
So NOT ALL ABOUT MONEY huh? 3 CHEERS for this one making it!
The Scottish People are SALT of the EARTH types, quiet LOVELY I have found, EASY GOING, HELPFUL & UNRUSHED.
Stick with us folks!!! I actually like the SNP leader (Nicola Sturgeon) but like Alex Salmon she has a BEE IN HER BONNET with regards to INDEPENDENCE.
She wants to leave the UNION but still get into bed with the E.U,!!!! WHAT!!!! with all the POWERS THEY WOULD TAKE??? really?
It seems the Scottish public don't like this idea & the SNP lost some seats last time around because of this I feel.
SCOTLAND is a WONDERFUL gem of PLACE.
No 7) PURBECK in DORSET
I only mention this because we visited 'CORFE CASTLE' close to this some years back & that little town below this is simply DARLING it looks up to this breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL Ruin of a CASTLE (which is like something out of a FILM)
I would RECOMMEND anyone to visit this place.
No 4) DERBYSHIRE DALES
Hurrah, somewhere close to home! and NORTH of BIRMINGHAM well other than the Scottish Islands here which brings me too...
No 2) ORKNEY ISLANDS.
Wow the Scottish Islands are having it GOOD.
Low Burglary (well if you did it, they'd probably find you ) the LOWEST level of ANXIETY & No Traffic.
And at
No1...WINCHESTER, alrighty then so no MANCHESTER which is fine & dandy with me! it may be busy at times but it ain't half bad.
My FAV's would be...
ARRAN (another Island of Scotland) and a truly BEAUTIFUL place
CORNWALL & DEVON are places I LOVE too (Anyone NOT having VISITED 'The Minack Theatre' down there really SHOULD! it's like a little LOST CIVILIZATION place)
My WORST...
KENT (said to be The Garden of England)
Well it does have some nice places of interest (no question of that) but THE ROADS!!! jam packed & THE PEOPLE? well we found many of them in a RUSH & FAIRLY ANGRY & UNHELPFUL...shame! not like we MANCHESTER FOLK or THE SCOTS.
I wonder what it's like...
ON THE MOON? or
MARS? or
PLUTO?
You just couldn't HELP YOURSLEF could you CHRIS

ADDED NOTE:
It was also interesting to read that the AVERAGE Number of ROOMS for those living in LONDON was LESS than 4 & so I guess this will be APARTMENTS or those strange places where you BUY the HOUSE but you ONLY get the GROUND FLOOR or 1st FLOOR.
And anyone that has seen the Tv show 'HOMES UNDER THE HAMMER' will have seen such things & they seem to sell for £300,000 to £500,000 which is NUTS!!! a lovely terraced not too far away from us recently SOLD for just £125,000 with DOUBLE the ROOMS (3 Bedrooms) perhaps one of the reasons LONDON has dropped to No 20?
Wow an average of less than 4 Rooms & that one must think would include the KITCHEN & BATHROOM & 1 BEDROOM & so that leaves WHAT? 1 Lounge / Dining Area (OK for a single person or couple but not really for a FAMILY)
