Another POLITICS posting (however much you may dislike or even hate such things it's something we have to deal with)
As I write this Mrs May has yet to make her speech at around 3pm & it could be an IMPORTANT one.
To me it sounds interesting, thought out & FAIR to both sides & I like things to be FAIR!
On the news today we FINALLY got a few more FACTS! something many of us did not get during the election for LEAVE or STAY.
It was confirmed awhile back that BRITAIN need NOT PAY ANYTHING MORE to the EU once we left in 2019 if we did not want too (the EU LAWYERS confirmed this...this could be used as a bargaining chip by the UK.)
HOWEVER, if that were to happen there would be VERY LITTLE good will to the UK over any future trading agreements & other things with the EU after this MARCH 2019 leaving date.
What has come to light is this...
DEBT COMMITTED TO by ALL EU Nations (INCLUDING BRITAIN) but NOT YET PAID...
This has a total of 210 Billion of which Britain's DEBT is 25 BILLION (which as you can see considering the amount of countries in the EU is a large percentage) BUT...if WE OWE THIS AMOUNT i'm a FAIR SOUL & I believe we SHOULD PAY THIS OFF.
So that's 25 BILLION I would say should be heading to the EU (even though we could just walk away!!! but that of course WOULD NOT BE RIGHT)
The EU PENSIONS POT.
Apparantly the UK would owe 8 BILLION to this (again by law we are not obliged to pay it but that would like declaring us bankrupt & defaulting on card payments we owe them) so AGAIN I think we SHOULD pay this.
That's 33 BILLION & there may well be other smaller amounts but these are the BIG ONE's.
But then we need to take INTO ACCOUNT those ASSETS we own / part own / share profits from within the EU (this would bring this figure down you would think if FAIRNESS was brought into account?)
So it may well be that we (UK) end up paying a kind of DIVORCE bill of something as low as 10 BILLION (if those assets we hold are good) or close to this 33 BILLION if not & hopefully we will arrange a break even TRADING AGREEMENT (or close to) so that we ALL BENEFIT (UK & EU) but hey I think we know what's going to happen right?
IT APPEARS the PRIME MINISTER will propose an extended 2 YEAR TRANSITIONAL DEAL.
Paying the EU 18 BILLION POUNDS (20 Billion EUROS) over 2 YEARS from MARCH 2019 until MRCH 2021.
I think this is perfectly LOGICAL & FAIR for both sides, it gives the EU guaranteed money from us over these EXTRA 2 years & gives us all time to WORK THINGS OUT Nicely.
To me it sounds like a fair & well thought out & logical speech but we shall see.
I THINK I can TELL YOU WHAT the REPLY from the EU will be (mainly from their so called leaders BARNIER & his good buddy JUNCKER)
WHATEVER Prime Minister MAY might have proposed these 2 especially would not have liked it or are unlikely to agree with it (as is) they will ARGUE the point until the DAY WE LEAVE but HOPEFULLY the REST of the EU will see this makes perfectly GOOD LOGICAL SENSE.
After these 2 years i'm sure we will NOT walk away without paying the EU any extra money to deal with trading agreements & other important issues (BTW the IRELAND BORDER SHOULD BE NON- NEGOTIABLE...and if those 2 guys can't see that then they're MORE UP THEMSELVES than even I THOUGHT)
An irish border will CAUSE TROUBLE...leave it ALONE!!!
These 2 guys just want BRITAIN to PAY THROUGH THE NOSE & get every last THING to GO in THEIR FAVOUR (They are POWER MEN)
They DON'T SEEM FRIENDLY to ME or seem to have any thought about a FAIR DEAL for BOTH SIDES (Sadly) & if they continue on this PATH they may well end up getting nothing as Mrs May could well be replaced with BORIS & then GOOD LUCK getting ANY MONEY from US
THEY WANT TO MAKE EVERYTHING AS DIFFICULT AS THEY CAN & if THEY CAN GET CRAZY SUMS of 75 BILLION or 100 BILLION THEY WILL DO SO.
THEY WANT TO MAKE A POINT TO ANY FUTURE COUNTRIES THINKING OF LEAVING THE E.U. THAT TO DO SO WILL COST THEM DEAR!
A little ADVICE for you 2 GUYS...
LISTEN to what she HAS TO SAY...she is an INTELLIGENT WOMAN (who doesn't get EVERYTHING right! WHO DOES?) but if this speech goes the way it's been reported then it SHOULD go a LONG WAY to SMOOTHING the PATH for EVERYONE (The EU included) & who knows perhaps over those added years the EU might change?
They might ditch the likes of BARNIER & JUNCKER (does anyone really like these 2 arrogant fella's?) and actually LISTEN for a CHANGE, seriously they are going to bring the likes of TURKEY & others into the FOLD & then try for ONE SUPREME LEADER of the EU with more POWERS over countries that still have TOO MANY DIFFERENCES (in the way they think & monetary) WELL, GOOD LUCK with THAT.
