Paul Conway created the topic: NASA Budget TABLE vs Jeff Bezo's 1 BILLION Annual
I found this TABLE showing NASA's BUDGET over the YEARS interesting when compared to the (below) recent story of Jeff Bezo (AMAZON supremo)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budget_of_NASA
You'll NOTE the % was VERY LOW when we assume they STARTED OUT in the LATE 1950's coming in at JUST 0.1% of Government spending.
By the time we reach the early APOLLO MISSIONS (the building & set up of things) it's up to 4.41% before levelling off during the MOON LANDING MISSIONS of the late 1960's / early 70's (2.31% down to 1.21% by the mid 70's)
From this point on, the MID 1970's NASA's Budget (at least SEEN HERE) drops dramatically down to an average of around 0.80% all the way until the 2000's before DROPPING EVEN MORE from this point to the CURRENT 0.47% investment...HOW SAD IS THIS?
ONLY those EARLY YEARS of the LATE 1950's had LEVELS this LOW.
And you WONDER why we are NOT seeing investment to MANNED MISSIONS to MARS or even BACK to the MOON taking place? or STARSHIP ENTERPRISES being BUILT.
Of course...the HIDDEN BUDGET is going to that section of NASA which is hushed up for MILITARY PURPOSES, sadly, so it makes me laugh that currently on their webpage they have a GRAPHIC saying 'FOR ALL MANKIND' I used to think & hoped for this when I was young & naïve.

It's still much less than NASA's ANNUAL BUDGET but with new technology & openness we MIGHT actually get great ADVANCEMENTS in the PRIVATE SECTOR...manned trips to the MOON & MARS, BASES, MINING, VIEWING STATIONS in EARTH ORBIT for we normally folk to see OUR BEAUTIFUL PLANET might ALL be possible...SHAME NASA never did this with all those $526 billions over 50 years
