Paul Conway created the topic: "DUNKIRK" a WONDERFUL Tribute film
This was another film on my I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE List.
Christopher Nolan is clearly a very intelligent filmmaker over many genres & if he never wins an OSCAR one day then there is probably something very WRONG with the WORLD, oh wait, i forgot Donald Trump is PRESIDENT of the United States of America, damn! there is something wrong with the world...the likes of CHURCHILL would be aghast.
I challenge President Trump to a STANDING duel...if he loses he STANDS DOWN
What has happened to the WORLD.
Where are the GREAT, GOOD & INTELLIGENT LEADERS, Prime Minister May is trying her BEST but apart from her I am struggling to name another apart the from the leader of China (President Xi Jinping)
Anyhoo, back to this WONDERFULLY made film "DUNKIRK"
It is a marvellous TRIBUTE to the people that took part in this RESCUE Mission & to all those involved in it.
Without a shadow of doubt Christopher Nolan is one of the best directors we have today & this film just cements that feeling for me.
Will it get any OSCAR Nominations? I would hope so but it's a VERY BRITISH FILM & a very good one! but this may mean it misses out on awards (NOT that Mr Nolan needs them, this will be another that will in time be seen as another wonderfully made film to add to his filmography)
This is a film of few words & it's all the better for it, it puts you right in the middle of the action & is in turns thrilling, chilling & thoughtful but most of all it is RESPECTFUL I think.
If after watching this film YOU DON'T THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS for NEVER having gone through such an experience than your LOST to the HUMAN RACE...you've headed off into that ELITE section that think NOTHING of sacrificing lives simply for MONEY & POWER (you may disagree with that point of view but I firmly believe WE as a race have taken a wrong turn somewhere down the line)
I am dearly indebted to be BRITISH & whilst some might say what is the difference between Britain standing up for themselves against EUROPE over Brexit & the President of the United States of America doing so for America over the likes of China & Russia & it's in the wording but also the attitude, I think we have another Bush like president & I don't think that's good for the World or frankly for our friends in America.
Winston Churchill would NOT be impressed I think by him & I am still amazed someone who bullied his way to the nomination actually got elected, I hoped he would change in power but it would seem not!
WE DO NOT HAVE THE LEADERS WE SHOULD HAVE...THE WORLD OVER...HOW DID IT COME TO THIS ?
I am proud to be BRITISH, it's a beautiful country filled with BEAUTIFUL people, kind, caring & fair (of course I am talking about the general public who for the most part are GOOD PEOPLE although even a number of these it seems to me & my father seem to have values now that are shall we say NOT THOSE of THE DUNKIRK SPIRIT)
Perhaps I am just a little old fashioned thesedays but the spirit of DUNKIRK was wonderfully captured here by this exceptional director & writer.
Is it my number 1 film of the year...NOPE, nearly though, at times I was cheering (the SPITFIRE scenes are incredible) but my age is catching up with me & I sobbed at numerous sections here too but in the end it left me UPLIFTED & PROUD of THESE PEOPLE.
Number 1 film of the year remains "War for the Planet of the Apes" (a HUGE surprise to me) but at
Number 2 & not too far behind is (for me) "DUNKIRK" & I hope you folks out there (especially you Brits) will enjoy & appreciate it this Christmas.
