Paul Conway created the topic: TOP 10 TV of 2017 ? Dr WHo, Horizon, Blue Planet 2, Timeless
Whilst I still watch TV there is very little on that really interests me but I thought I would LIST my TOP 10 series / programmes of 2017 on TV.
Would LOVE to hear what you folks liked? but there is little chance of that here.

SPOILERS for Dr Who's Christmas Special (so SKIP reading that if you don't want to know about it)

Counting Down from 10 to NUMBER 1 here goes...

10) "The Miniaturist"
shown this Christmas & whilst NOT GREAT it was beautifully filmed & acted even if the story was a little different & more slight than I had hoped for (I was hoping for a more Twilight Zone type story with the dolls) still, it shows how far with have come as a race but sadly we have a long way to travel yet before we can ALL get along on this PLANET...this was different but I if being honest I expected more after seeing the trailers.

9) "Not Going Out" The 2017 Christmas Special.
Old fashioned in style but cleverly done & witty & yes it summoned up the kind of things that happen in real life without going the OVERBLOWN EastEnders route!!! seriously WHO watches this at Christmas?

8) EIGHT) "Would I Lie to You" like the above this features LEE MACK, it very rarely disappoints in being FUNNY.

7) "Father Brown : The Tree of Truth" Season 6 premiere episode & doubling up as a CHRISTMAS EPISODE & how utterly delightful it was.
If in the UK catch the new series in January on BBC1 afternoons (RECORD it on TIMER)

6) "Match of the Day"
I am a huge footie fan so it has to feature as this year was weak pickings.
But this particular match I enjoyed more than any other so far this year...Manchester United 1 Manchester City 2
And MOANrinho's pre-match interviews made to look funny after this match, surprised we didn't win by more as United were hardly in it putting up another boring defensive display.

TOP 5 starting with 5 (funny that)

5) "Dr Who 2017 Christmas Special"
Probably the BEST of all the Christmas specials to date.
Includes the intro to JODI WHITTAKER as the first female doctor.
What amused me about this story was that it's one I have pondered & even mentioned on these forums in the past...
EARTH beings from the far future were SAVING PEOPLE at the moment of their DEATH...wouldn't that be weird if one day we actually could do this & save virtually every single HUMAN SOUL that ever set foot upon our PLANET & perhaps even some of the animals?
Mr David Bradley as the very 1st Doctor was exceptional, quiet wonderful & it was nice that the BBC used him to portray the doctor again but this time for an actual EPISODE.
Peter Capaldi bless him you could at times see it in his eyes that he was finding this difficult to film (being his last regeneration episode)but WOW! did he go out with GREAT WIT & STYLE...he brought back a kind of older Jon Pertwee Doctor & it's been nice to see, funny thing was I thought he was just about getting into his stride as the doctor.
A GREAT WAY to GO...and it was fun seeing the two different time era TARDIS.

4) "BLUE PLANET 2"
What a PLANET we HAVE...let's NOT SPOIL it...and let's TRY to make it a FAIRER planet for everyone (animals alike)

3) "HORIZON"
Most episode's interest me but clearly the SPACE MISSION episodes are the standout's for me
Which Universe are we Living in?
Goodbye Cassini : Hello Saturn just 2 of the brilliantly made documentaries.
I can never imagine a time when we do not get these BRILLIANT BBC 'Horizon' Documentaries one's I have been watching since a young boy when James Burke presented them on screen...BRILLIANT Series.

2) "TIMELESS"
This was WONDERFUL ENTERTAINMENT.
Think of it as a kind of updated "TIME TUNNEL"
Great Cast, Super Stories, reminded me a little of a time travelling old original series STAR TREK (and that's a GOOD thing)

1) THIS IS A CHEAT
I have two at Number One which I enjoyed for different reasons & one of these is a cheat in of itself.
So JOINT NUMBER ONE for me were...

"NASA TRAPPIST-1 SYSTEM DISCOVERY" on NASA TV (that's another cheat as technically it's on the internet, but so much is these days)
I think it was early 2017? but if not well that's another slight cheat as I think it may have been DEC 2016? but hey ho it gets a piece of the Number 1 spot because this DISCOVERY which is just about as GOOD as ANYTHING NASA have ever announced (of course they MUST KNOW of BIGGER discoveries but sadly they're not letting you folks in on those, yet)
7 EARTH like PLANETS is SPECTACULAR & with 3 maybe 4 of those in the GOLDILOCKS ZONE...i'll have you a bet right now that at least one of them has some form of life on it & if we are to believe that NASA know there are (coughs) intelligent alien species out there they may well know that this is the system that houses one of them?
Brilliant Presentation, friendly, good graphics & info, data...a terrific day, enjoyed it A LOT.

Joint Number 1)

"ASTRONAUTS : Do you have what it Takes?"

Superb, enjoyed every second of this, a series which ACTUALLY got together OUR very BEST...not wannabe business types who don't (for the most part) have a clue! although THE APPRENTICE is enjoyable but on a different level to this programme which featured truly CLEVER, INTELLIGENT & COURAGOUS Types of people & it was the WOMEN that RULED the ROOST here...which by now 2017 should show folks that there is very little difference, EVERYONE to BE TREATED the SAME, well let's hope one day huh!

Shame the Brian Cox look-alike did not win (he gave it a right good go) but he will do GREAT THINGS, don't bully these types at school they are the FUTURE of us ALL

A Tv AD that made me LAUGH OUT LOUD recently was one for dating...
"ELITE SINGLES" i suppose this matches those with £100,000+ salaries & think only of money & themselves (I know it's a bit critical, i'm sure there are good elites ;) ) well with this service you may get who you deserve

LOOKING FORWARD to
"HARD SUN" on the BBC...a large EXTINCTION Event? what's this all about? well clearly the SUN one would think.
I still find that NASA video footage of that object near the sun sucking up PLASMA from it & then zipping off into outer space BEYOND STRANGE.
It does not look like a lifeform? it seemed to be circular & was huge (EARTH sized if not larger has been mentioned) well if that's a SHIP that is one huge PLANET sized SHIP....was it refuelling? would seem LOGICAL but WOW!
WE DON'T KNOW THE HALF OF IT.

Have not yet seen
Star Trek : Discovery
Ash vs The Evil Dead
Strange Things season 1 or 2
but I get the feeling they might have made this list.

HAPPY VIEWING
