Hi,
I am working for Lunar Mission One for part of the University summer holiday, gathering information about some topics that currently need further knowledge collecting. Due to this, if anyone has any ideas, information or knowledge that they are willing to share about any of the topics outlined below, posting them as a reply on this forum will be greatly appreciated!
Topic 1 : Ideas about what material the digital archive should be made from in order to maximize data storage capacity in the space allocated.
Topic 2 : What conditions exactly will the archives have to withstand at the bottom of the borehole? (Temperature, pressure, moisture etc)
Topic 3 : Suggestions about what material the canisters that will hold the biological (hair) and digital archives so that they will reflect background radiation from surrounding rock, and will also be able to withstand the conditions at the bottom of the borehole.
Topic 4 : What type of radiation will be exerted from the surrounding rock, and the level of the radiation? Additionally, what effect will this radiation cause on any of the materials that could be used for the digital and biological archives? It is known that the dominant rock-type (anorthosite) only contains trace quantities of radioactive elements, but determining what elements and how much requires additional research/knowledge.
Topic 5 : Ideas for the structure and material that should be used to store the individual hairs in order to keep them straight and to maximize the packing density within the biological archive, whilst keeping an eye on cost.
Thanks very much!
