What an amazing contribution! As much as I'd like to up your karma (because you definitely deserve it) I am unable to for another four hours unfortunately...(Blame James Parker)

Brilliant thank you. I hope LM1 read carefully through your list ;) :)

Some nice ideas here. Regarding the schools I did contact lm1 a while back asking if teams of volunteers could be set up in different areas to visit schools and sell lunar mission one to them. (This would be when lm1 is more popular later along the line) didn't have a response but they did say there would be chances for volunteering in general.

Hi Lee good idea, I assume by your use of the word 'selling' you mean promoting and educating? :)

Yeah pretty much. Organising meetings with local heads of schools and such to offer lm1 as something they could get involved in. (And then they could contact lm1 directly if they're interested in more)

I sent a list of stuff to LM1 right at the beginning, but didnt post it publicly, so I thought I would copy it into here for the record. I also passed on a number of contacts that I had for companies who specialise in high end merchandising for the movie industry.. Everybody has posted great ideas. We are gonna have loads of great things.... Anyway... This is the list... It was a conversation I was having with LM1 so it's not just a list, but I am lazy so can't be bothered to edit out the chatter, so I've just copied it from the kick starter private messages....

Regarding ideas, there are so many that I am sure you can think of for yourselves, but how about, A countdown clock showing days/hours/minutes to launch? A clock going backward basically. You could incorporate a button that holds the countdown if the real one has to stop for any reason. Or counting down to various goals you could define. That way you could sell a clock to the same person several times! (It's all about getting the funding right?) High end items like glass paperweights or tankards etched with the lander or the mission patch. Make some limited edition items to snag the collectors. There are people out there who will pay way over the odds for an item which has 'number 23 of 50'on it.

Wallets and card holders again with the logo/mission patch. Limited edition prints of the artwork being done by BLAM etc. Anything that is a series, like a mission patch for each year, that could be collected and maybe put in some sort of commemorative folder. A set of pens in different colours with something mission related on them. Anything with YEAR ONE on it, then following years. THings like medals or pin badges that can be collected. This stuff can go on and on over the years for regular funding drives. Collectors are mad for those things and will pay for high quality items. Lander model kits from cardboard up to 2000 part hobbyist to scale models. We did embroidered mission patches for the film Apollo 13, and i've still got mine!

You can get little usb plug in lights for laptops with a spacesuited figure on them as the light part. Have a moon lander instead! USB sticks of course. One really cool in-expensive item we did for Captain America, a good quality keyring with the Captain America logo enamelled on a spinning disk. Moon on one side, logo on the other would be cool. Iphone cases with the logo/mission patch on. Things like solar powered calculators that fold up into a lander shape, universal phone charger things. Telescopes. Could go on forever. Clever fold up/light up keyboards,,, I'll add more soon.

You need to do watches... with the moon phases on them! Remember years ago you could get watches that had a little window at the top which would show the phases of the moon? And the ones that had a sun for day time and a moon for night time popping up?

You could do a classic look leather strap type one, or a gadgety aviator style stainless steel job with all sorts of bits on and the moon phase bit... Watches always went really well whenever Paramount made them.

We did one for Watchmen which had a flip up cover of the Nite Owl and had two clocks, with one standing at '1 minute to doomsday'. One for Cowboys vs Aliens which was blue neon like the countdown on Daniel Craig's wrist counter. Another for Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow which was a classic 40's Aviator style with brown leather strap etc.. The companies I gave you contacts for, can mostly show you all sorts of samples.

I thought there was another batch somewhere but I can't find it... Never mind!

Abi wrote: Martin, as much as I am over the Moon with my new LM1 limited edition t-shirt, can you believe it's just too hot to wear just now (I mean the weather btw). It'd be fab if a lighter one could be designed, hopefully it'll be a girly V neck too :)

Over the moon, pun intended? :-) it's been raining most of the day here so envious that it's hot where you are.

Actually once the site owners are settled I wonder if they could add a poll system to the forum or website. They could use the ideas from this thread and we could vote for our favourite. That will help the lunar team prioritise what merchandise to bring out.

My other signature is much better than this one!
